Home Warranty Basics (General)
If you’re new to home warranties, this page answers the questions homeowners ask most before buying a plan. You’ll find clear explanations of what a home warranty is, how it differs from homeowners insurance, what systems and appliances are commonly covered, and what exclusions or “fine print” usually mean in real life. The goal is to help you understand how home warranty coverage works so you can make a confident decision without getting lost in contract language.
You’ll also see practical guidance on cost and value, including typical monthly and annual pricing ranges, how service fees and deductibles work across the industry, and why claims are sometimes denied. Use these answers as a quick reference when comparing providers, reviewing contracts, or deciding whether a home warranty makes sense for your home, budget, and risk tolerance.
